Back to school ! First Grade here we come !

Welcome back!
Back to school 2010 and I have the receipts to show it. It is unbelievable how much stuff I had to buy for this year’s school start.
Now here is a totally new concept, well at least for me: 1st grade and second grade are being taught in the SAME class room at the SAME time; 39 students, 2 teachers, 2 grades. In my opinion: not exactly a receipt for success. But let’s hope that I am either horribly mistaken, or that my son is so brilliant that he will just learn 2nd grade material.
So many questions:
Who had this brilliant idea?
Is this a consequence on the budget cuts?
Have the teachers ever taught in such environment? Or is my son one of 39 guinea pigs they want to try this teaching model?
We will see how this will work out and I will keep you posted. Good luck to all of us .

Valentine’s day is approaching.. Again

Christmas wasn’t over for a week and there they were: hearts everywhere. Preparation for the fest of love (the other one) is in full force.

VALENTINES DAY:
Dreaded by every single, longed for by every woman in a relationship and barely acknowledged by their partners.
It is impossible to ignore wherever you go.
I decided, that this year I will not buy Valentine’s Day cards to make the day special, I will actually make it special. Well that is the thought tonight; let’s see how realty turns out. I have 3 days to come up with something cute for the whole family.
Any suggestions anybody?

Wir krabbeln!!!!

Last night she decided to go for it! Directly and with no hesitation. She crawled from of side of the bed “schnur stracks” to the wet wipes and the TV on the other side of the bed. Fascinating how the mind controls the body. She looked like little Maggie from the Simpsons, sucking on the pacifier, moving FORWARDS in her pyjamas.
You go Girl!!!

Der erste Zahn ist Da !!!!!

Finally! We have a tooth. The little sucker appeared today, January 18th 2010. We are all clear, no more breast feeding and it is time for REAL food. The only problem, she does not seem to be too convinced she really wants anything else but milk. The faces she makes when she tastes alternate food options are priceless.
Charlotte we wish you the best and now we will have to start brushing your teeth And we will have to get a new tooth brush holder to accommodate the new addition.
Now it is time for her to start sitting up and crawl forward.
I will keep you all posted on that progress.

Happy New Year

The New Years celebration has passed. It has been 2 weeks since all the children have been home. Challenging at times but definitely fun as well. It seems like we had to get to know each other all over again. No school or daycare, no work, lots of food and Time on our hands. Numerous trips to the beach and the park, water fights in the back yard and other activities made the time pass very fast.
Can’t wait to see what 2010 will bring this family. A big thank you to my husband, who has been cooking up a storm over the past 2 weeks. Everything has been amazing.
